What Category It Belongs

Ask your child to tell you which category the object belongs in, when you name an object.
Example:
When you say "Cricket", your child should say "Sport".
When you say "Mango", your child should say "Fruit".

Find The Odd Thing

Read a group of four or five words, and ask your child to pick out the one that does not match with others and ask them why.
Below are few examples:

If you read "dog, cat, elephant, rose", then your child should say "Rose - not an animal".
If you read "lion, giraffe, cat, monkey", then your child should say "cat - not a zoo animal ".
If you read "carrot, potato, tomato, apple", then your child should say "apple - not a vegetable ".

You Can Change or Cannot Change?

Read the list of phrases describing situations to your kids. Ask them if those situations can be changed or not.
Below are few examples:

If you tell "The food you eat", your child should tell "Can change".
If you tell "The color of your eyes", your child should tell "Cannot change ".
If you tell "The clothes you wear", your child should tell "Can change".

How many can you name?

Name a topic (or you select from the below list) and ask your kid to list as many items as he or she can think of that are related to the topic within a certain time period. Example: If the topic is "Fruit", then you child list should be "Apple, Mango, Grapes, Banana, Blueberries........."

The list of topics:
Easy Topics:
Animals, Fruits, Vegetables, Outdoor & Indoor Games, Foods, Pets, etc.

Difficult Topics:
Mountains, Occupations, Types of fish, Different states, Kinds of birds, Musical Instruments, etc.

SORTING

You need:
Different pairs of socks of different colors
Different sizes of 2-3 books each

Activity:
Ask your child to group socks and books in different category.
Ask your child again to differentiate socks and books according to specific attribute, such as color, size, or any other similarity.
Ask your child to comment on each category, by asking them:
How are these items different from one another?

COLLECTING THINGS

You need:
Paper bag
Any objects that are alike in some way eg: blocks , toys, cups etc

Activity:

• Ask your child that you're going to collect objects that are of same identity and put them in the paper bag.
• In a similar way ask your child to collect objects of same colour.
• Ask your child to comment on each object by asking:

Why did you choose these objects to go in this bag?
Which color does your object belong to?
